JUNE CORN! – Table Mountain and Peak 10,650 (Video TR) – Jedediah Smith Wilderness, WY (06.01.24)

A video trip report from June 1st, when Bobbi Clemmer and I enjoyed what can only be called a magical day of late spring corn skiing. We connected the North Bowl of Table Mountain and the West Ridge of Peak 10,650 for 7,000 feet of type one fun.

I can’t believe Bobbi is still psyched on skiing come June! When 99% of Greater Yellowstone skiers have folded, the Alpine Peanut remains. We took quite a bit of phone video this day, so I drank an extra cup of coffee and stitched together this crude movie in place of the usual trip report.

The cliff notes of the day were a generally stellar ski around the clock, with a 6:30AM start, leisurely 10:30 Table Mountain summit via the Face Trail, an 11:45 drop in to perfect corn in the North Bowl, and somehow still supportable sticky corn at 3:00PM on the West Ridge of Peak 10,650. We were able to ski out the North Fork of Teton Canyon to within one mile of the parking lot, exiting via the Huckleberry Trail. Along the way we saw two ambitious folks descending the summit pyramid of Table on plastic sleds (with many epic wipeouts), got lost on the north side of 10,650 trying to climb a couloir that dead ended in a steep wall of dangerous choss and overhanging cornices, and enjoyed the seriously stellar views of the core range that only West Teton summits can provide. The Peanut skied about as good as I’ve ever seen, and all in all this was a fantastic day to wrap up her third season on skis. We clocked somewhere around 7,000 feet of vertical, 6,000 of it skiable… in June… pinch me.

If you feel so inclined, let me know what you think of the video TR in the comments below. Cheers.
